Introducing the ShipX Transit Time Tool: Check Delivery Times by Lane
"The question every cross-border buyer asks. The answer most sellers don't have ready." Your customer has paid. The order is confirmed. Then comes the message: "When will it arrive?" If you're shipping from Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, or Thailand to the United States, the UK, or Europe, that question carries real weight. Give the wrong estimate and you lose trust. Give no estimate and you lose the sale before it starts. Transit time uncertainty is one of the most common friction points in cross-border e-commerce — and it's one that sellers often treat as unavoidable. It isn't.

The Problem With Guessing

Most cross-border sellers in Southeast Asia piece together delivery estimates from memory, from what a carrier told them six months ago, or from a general range they found somewhere online. None of that is reliable. Transit times vary by origin, by destination, by carrier, by service tier, and critically, by commodity. A 5 kg shipment of general goods from Ho Chi Minh City to Los Angeles moves differently than a 5 kg shipment of cosmetics or food supplements on the same route. Some service tiers won't carry restricted commodities at all. If you're quoting a delivery window without accounting for that, you're guessing — and your buyer is bearing the cost of that guess. The fix isn't more experience. It's better data, looked up against the right variables, before the question gets asked.

What the ShipX Transit Time Tool Does

The ShipX Transit Time tool is a live transit lookup built into the ShipX platform. You give it four inputs — your origin, your destination, your parcel weight, and your commodity — and it returns transit-day ranges for every eligible service tier on that lane, pulled directly from carrier transit tables. This is not an estimate based on averages. The results carry a "Live data" label because they reflect actual carrier-published transit ranges for your specific route. The tool filters out service tiers that cannot legally or operationally carry your commodity type. What you see is what's actually available to you. The framing to keep in mind: estimates now, committed windows when you book. The tool gives you the planning intelligence. The booking step gives you the contractual certainty.

How to Use It: A Step-by-Step Walkthrough

The Transit Time tool runs as a short four-step wizard. Here is exactly what you do.

Step 1 — Select Your Lane

Choose your origin from: Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, or Thailand. Then choose your destination: United States (with USPS last-mile delivery), United Kingdom (Royal Mail or Evri), European Union, Australia (AU Post), Southeast Asia, or Other. This single selection already narrows the carrier pool to routes that actually operate on your lane.

Step 2 — Enter Your Parcel Details

Weight in kilograms is required. If you have the parcel dimensions, enter the length, width, and height — the tool will calculate the volumetric weight alongside the actual weight, so you see both figures before committing to a service.

Step 3 — Select Your Commodity

Choose from: Electronics, Cosmetics and Skincare, Textiles and Apparel, Food and Supplements, General Goods, or Something Else. This step is the real filter. Certain service tiers cannot carry food or supplements. Others have restrictions on cosmetics or electronics. The tool removes ineligible services from your results automatically — you only see what can actually move your goods.

Step 4 — Enter Your Email

Your results are delivered on screen and sent to your inbox. This means you can reference the data later without having to run the lookup again.

What Your Results Look Like

Once the wizard completes, you land on a results screen headed "Delivery times on this lane" with a Live data pill confirming the data is current. The context line tells you the full picture at a glance: your origin and destination, the number of eligible services on that lane, and your parcel weight. The hero card surfaces the fastest eligible service tier automatically — Express first if available, then US Domestic, then Postal, then Sea Freight, then Commercial. It shows the transit-day range, the number of carriers available on that tier, and a "Fastest" badge. You can expand the card to see individual carrier rows. All other eligible service tiers appear as collapsible rows below. Here is what a real lookup looks like. Example: Vietnam to United States, 30 kg parcel, General Goods On this lane, a 30 kg shipment pulls three eligible tiers:
  • Express — DHL Premium (VN direct): 2–5 days. UPS Saver (VN direct): 2–4 days. The fastest options on this lane and most relevant for B2C orders where buyer satisfaction depends on delivery speed.
  • US Domestic — via ShipX linehaul and USPS last-mile: 6–9 days for sellers with inventory staged in the US.
  • Postal — ePacket and similar services: 8–18 days. The cost-effective option for high-volume, lower-weight cross-border packets.
  • Commercial — suited to restricted commodities like food and cosmetics: 10–15 days.
  • Sea Freight — LCL: 25–35 days. The right tier for bulk inventory movements, Amazon FBA inbound shipments, or any situation where cost efficiency matters more than speed.
Every tier that appears in your results is an eligible, operating option for your lane and your commodity. Every tier that is missing has been filtered out for a reason.

From Transit Time to Exact Pricing

Knowing the transit range is step one. Once you have identified which tier and which carriers work for your shipment, the natural next step is getting exact rates. At the bottom of your results screen, a cross-link reads "Get exact rates for these services" — this takes you directly into the ShipX Pricing Wizard, where the same lane data feeds into a live rate lookup. Transit time and pricing in sequence, without starting over.

Built for the Lanes That Matter in Southeast Asia

The Transit Time tool was built with Southeast Asian cross-border sellers as the primary use case. The five origin markets — Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand — are the markets where ShipX operates, and the destination list reflects where ASEAN sellers are actually shipping: the US, the UK, the EU, and Australia. For sellers building toward the US market specifically, this tool pairs directly with ShipX's Expand to US program, which handles the full stack from origin in Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, or the Philippines through FBA prep, customs clearance, and US domestic delivery. Knowing your transit time is the first planning input. Everything else follows from there. ShipX works with 45+ carriers across 200+ destinations. The Transit Time tool surfaces the right subset of that network for your specific shipment — nothing more than what is actually relevant to you. Know the transit time. Then lock in the rate. 45+ carriers  ·  200+ destinations  ·  Live carrier data

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Transit Time tool show pricing?

No. The tool is focused entirely on transit-day ranges. Pricing is handled separately through the ShipX Pricing Wizard, which you can access directly from the results screen via the "Get exact rates for these services" link.

Why do some service tiers not appear in my results?

The tool filters out service tiers that cannot carry your commodity type. If you selected Food and Supplements, for example, some Express and Postal services will not appear because they do not accept that commodity class. The tiers you see are the ones that can actually move your goods.

Are the transit times guaranteed?

The tool provides estimates drawn from live carrier transit tables. These are the ranges carriers publish for each route. Committed delivery windows are confirmed at the booking stage, when the specific carrier and service level are locked in.

What does "Live data" mean?

It means the transit ranges shown are pulled from current carrier data, not cached averages. The results reflect what carriers are publishing for that lane at the time of your lookup.

Can I use this tool if I ship regularly on the same lane?

Yes — and it is particularly useful if your shipment weight or commodity type changes between orders. A single lookup takes under two minutes and gives you a complete picture of every eligible tier for that specific combination.

What if my commodity is not listed?

Select "Something Else" from the commodity options. The tool will return the broadest eligible set of service tiers for your lane, and the ShipX team can advise on any specific commodity requirements from there.
